First of all, Music therapy can benefit everyone of all ages (No - you do not need any previous experience playing an instrument or singing to benefit from music therapy).
Music therapy is an evidence-based practice that connects individuals to inner strengths and can act as a bridge to better understanding ourselves and others. Listening to music, vocalizing, making music, analyzing music, and learning music allows us access to all parts of the brain and has been harnessed since the mid 1900s for healing mental health challenges. We will collaborate to determine what music therapy approach(es) may be most suitable for your nervous system regulation and wellness resourcing.
Music therapy is also clinically indicated for musicians who experience music performance anxiety. If this is something you have experienced, feel free to reach out. Music therapy is all about process, not the end product.

At this time, I do not accept insurance plans for private practice work. Clients may use their FSA or HSA through their employer.

No. Therapy is collaborative and client-centered which means whatever methods you prefer to support your self-exploration will be most beneficial. If music and art does not feel like a comfortable approach for you, the session will likely be more talk-heavy and that is completely normal. Some folks, on the other hand, may feel more comfortable communicating through expressive music platforms when first meeting with a therapist. Either way is effective!
